November 16 2022: The first season of post-launch content goes live today! Scroll down for all the Season One intel for Modern Warfare 2.

The seasonal content model continues to prove popular with Call of Duty fans. Instead of paid DLC, the switch to seasonal updates packed with a wealth of free content ranging from new weapons to multiplayer maps. Although Modern Warfare 2 is in the early stages of its cycle, players are already turning their attention to the first seasonal update.

Modern Warfare 2 season 1 is the first chance for Infinity Ward to apply any potential buffs, nerfs, and introduce new guns and maps to multiplayer.

Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 release date

During the Call of Duty Next event, Infinity Ward reveals Modern Warfare 2 Season One will begin on November 16, 2022. This date coincides with the launch of Warzone 2 and the brand-new DMZ mode.

Modern Warfare 2 pre-season

Thanks to a recent Call of Duty blog post, Activision confirms Modern Warfare 2 will feature a pre-season period before the start of season one. Pre-season includes levels one to 55 alongside daily challenges, Operator unlock challenges, and more

Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 maps

Information on the Modern Warfare 2 season one maps is limited but Activision confirms a "fan-favourite" map will return as part of the first post-launch content season.

Thanks to a recent blog post, the publisher reveals Shoot House and Shipment are on their way back to Call of Duty. We'll have to wait a little longer for Favela.

Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 operators

There are a total of six Operators making their way to Modern Warfare 2 season 1:

  • Zeus
  • Klaus
  • Gaz
  • Neymar
  • Messi
  • Pogba

Zeus is available to unlock at launch while Klaus and Gaz make their debut in the mid-season update.

During Season One, Messi, Neymar, and Pogba join Call of Duty as part of the Modern Warfare FC event.

Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 battle pass

The battle pass undergoes a makeover for Modern Warfare 2 season 1. There's still plenty of content to unlock but there's new ways to do so.

Players unlock items using battle tokens on a range of map sectors. There are five maps with 20 sectors, resulting in over 100 items to unlock. You can use a token to unlock a new map sector or earn more items in the current sector, the choice is yours.

Modern Warfare 2 season 1 guns

As mentioned above, the season 1 update will feature three new additions to the arsenal. The Chimera and M13B assault rifles have already appeared in the game files along with the BAS-P submachine gun and Victus XMR sniper rifle.

The BAS-P and Victus XMR are the two weapons arriving in the battle pass while the Chimera and M13B arrive at a later date.
