Following reports of Call of Duty 2023 being delayed until 2024, franchise fans began to wonder how a delay could impact the popular series of shooter games. With Modern Warfare 2 slated to launch in 2022, it appears Infinity Ward is considering potential plans for such a scenario.
With focus already turning to the sequel of 2019's Modern Warfare, numerous leaks and rumours surrounding various elements of the game are flying around, much to the excitement of players.
The most recent leak to emerge claims Modern Warfare 2 will feature a huge number of remastered maps from the original trilogy.
Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Maps
According to notable leaker 'RalphsValve,' Infinity Ward is looking at adding more maps from Call of Duty 4, 2009's Modern Warfare 2, and Modern Warfare 3 as part of its 2023 DLC plans for 2022's Modern Warfare 2. With no new title expected, Modern Warfare 2 will be the first game to receive a two-year cycle.
Despite no official information on Modern Warfare 2, many players are excited at the prospect of returning to a modern-day setting following the return to World War 2 in Vanguard. If the leak turns out to be true, Modern Warfare 2 could be the definitive title in the series.
Will Modern Warfare 2 Have Classic Maps?
As always, you should take leaks with a pinch of salt but as with any new Call of Duty title, there's a high chance of a few older maps receiving a fresh coat of paint in Modern Warfare 2. Let's hope we get to see Favela and Highrise!
