How To Turn Off Skill Based Matchmaking In Cold War And Get Easier Games

Black Ops Cold War's multiplayer is live across five different platforms and players around the world

The controversial topic of skill-based matchmaking has been the subject of debate by many players and content creators.

Black Ops Cold War matches players with a similar level of skill in order to create a competitive game.

While this sounds positive, SBMM has annoyed many players that love to hop into a game for a bit of casual fun using all of the weapons on offer.

With players wanting a more casual experience, here's how to TURN OFF skill-based match making in Black Ops Cold War.

How To Turn Off Skill Based Matchmaking In Black Ops Cold War

While you can not actually turn off skill-based matchmaking, there are some things you can do to get easier games.

Turn Crossplay Off

Turning off crossplay will match you with players on your own system, meaning everyone is on an even playing field.

You won't find yourself playing against keyboard and mouse players who are snapping on to you from across the map!

Join Your Teammates Games

One crafty idea is to join the games of those in your lobby that have low K/D ratios.

If SBMM is working properly, they should get easier lobbies as a result in their next game

Equally, you can have your friends who aren't as skilful host to get easier lobbies.

Have A Low K/D

Skill-based matchmaking is, more than likely, determined by your personal stats such as your K/D or EKIA.

If you have a low K/D you're going to match against those who also have a low K/D.

Have A Low W/L Record

Similar to the above suggestion, if you have a low W/L record you're likely to pair with others who have a low W/L record.

If you're just starting out, you may have very high records due to a lack of games, give it some time and they will even out.

Play Less Sweaty

It's also rumoured that your SBMM is influenced by the way you play.

While it can't be confirmed, some movements and tactics can influence who you are paired with.

Jumping around, drop shotting are all perceived as high SBMM tactics.

Whereas sitting still and ADSing for long periods of time are considered low SBMM tactics

Play Fireteam: Dirty Bomb

If you're still struggling for a good time, try the new game mode Fireteam: Dirty Bomb.

This is the only mode in multiplayer that doesn't match off of skill or any stats.

You'll get a nice mix of players who may be better or worse than yourself.
