Best Resistance Upgrades and Abilities in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Siege of Paris DLC

The best resistance upgrades and abilities you can select early on in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Siege of Paris DLC depend on what kind of resistance team you’re attempting to make. The game allows you to pick between melee or ranged teams to accompany you on resistance missions, and some upgrades specially apply to one team or another. Either way, here are some basic rules and tips on how to upgrade your team.

Best Upgrades

  • Your first priority should be to select all the upgrades that increase the numbers of members in your team. Not only are they cheaper generally, but because most resistance missions give a greater reward for more surviving team members, you can essentially increase the amount you’re paid each time.
  • Your next priority should be upgrading the survivability of your characters, especially if you’re going for melee focused-teams.
  • From that point on, simply progress through the upgrades that are available according to taste. As you increase the Resistance’s Infamy through successful missions, you’ll unlock further abilities to improve your team along the same way.

How to Get Resistance Upgrades

As you complete missions for the Resistance by talking to Pierre or any of his contacts, you’ll be awarded a specific French currency as a reward for completing them successfully, which can be spent on those upgrades. Pierre will also unlock various unique armour sets and resources which that same currency can be spent on, though these won’t do anything for your resistance members.

Should You Pick Melee or Ranged Resistance Teams?

Every time you start a mission that allows you to bring a resistance team, you can choose whether it’s a melee or a ranged one. Generally if you’ve heavily upgraded one over the other we recommend you pick that, but if you’re uncertain, we suggest choosing the ranged team. Because Eivor is more usually in the thick of combat, she tends to keep the enemy minions occupied on her, leaving the archers of the resistance safe to unleash powerful attacks from a distance. If you see them in danger, a well-placed arrow or quick dash can usually resolve things.
