  • Quick Answer: The WoW Forever Legacy System converts account-wide achievements into Legacy Points used to unlock character perk trees, utility bonuses, and exclusive cosmetic rewards.

Instead of forcing players into an endless vertical gear treadmill, World of Warcraft: Forever introduced the Legacy System, an account-wide horizontal progression framework.

The Legacy System turns every milestone on your account into character-specific perks and cosmetics. The more you level multiple alts, explore the world, and master your tradeskills, the more rewards you reap.

Curious about how the Legacy System works? Here's what you need to know.

How the Legacy System Works

The Legacy System follows a three-part progression loop: Challenges, Perk Trees, and Cosmetic Tracks.

To earn Legacy Points, you need to complete specific account-wide Legacy Challenges. You'll gain access to this system when you reach Level 25. Alternatively, you can unlock this by raising your crafting skill to 150 or by fully exploring the map.

You can spend the Points you earn by allocating them into specialized Legacy Perk Trees. These grant utility, convenience, and leveling bonuses that are specific to your character's playstyle. Accumulating Legacy Points automatically advances your reward track, allowing you to unlock exclusive mounts, pets, and more.

Players can earn up to 65 Legacy Points at launch, while each character is capped at spending 16 Legacy Points.

Legacy Challenge Categories

These are six Legacy Challenge categories. Completing challenges across these categories will help build up your account's Legacy Point Pool.

Here are all six Legacy Challenge categories:

  • Classes (27 points) - Reach level 25, 45, and 60 in each class (3 points per class)
  • Tradeskills (18 points) - Reach 150, 225, and 300 skill in non-gathering crafting professions (3 points per skill)
  • Player vs Player/PvP (12 points) - Hit PvP ranks 3, 7, 10, 13, and 14, reach Exalted with BG factions, and complete seasonal Field of Honor milestones
  • Dungeons (3 points) - Defeat all final bosses across Low (15-25), Mid (26-45), and High (46-60) level dungeon tiers
  • Raids (3 points) - Defeat Onyxia, clear Hyjal Summit, and clear Barrow Deeps
  • Adventure (2 points) - Uncover the full world map and complete the Lord Valthalak Dungeon Set questline

The Legacy Perk Trees

There are three distinct skill trees based on what your character needs that you can use your Legacy Points on.

The Adventure Tree is focused on leveling up and world exploration, while the Profession Tree is focused on harvesting, economy, and crafting. Meanwhile, the Resourcefulness Tree is all about reagent management, reputation, and quality-of-life.
