What You Can Expect from HoYoverse’s Upcoming Nodusfall

HoYoverse has released a trailer for its upcoming game, Nodusfall. It combines Monster Hunter’s fights with a more realistic aesthetic, while also introducing different mechanisms that separate Nodusfall from the other Nodusfall games.

Visual Difference

HoYoverse has been known for its anime-style design and vibrant worlds. It has implemented many fun elements, including casino-style games you might find on sites like LV BET Casino online, in games like Honkai: Star Rail. It’s colorful and a touch more modern.

HoYoverse decided to present something completely new. Instead of using its usual anime-style design, the characters look much more realistic. It’s closer to Elden Ring’s visual design than HoYoverse’s usual styling. The tone is much darker, with a deep background story that will immerse players in the world.

Free-to-Play and Gacha-Free

So far, HoYoverse games have used a gacha system to let players get characters, weapons, and other items. The devs have shared that players won’t get characters through a gacha system. However, they’re considering cosmetic monetization.

Players will get a co-op experience to battle bosses with a team of four. More than one player can choose the same characters as they team up. So, so far, it doesn’t look like the game requires the traditional DPS, healer, and tank roles to beat a fight.

Storyline

HoYoverse took inspiration from multiple real-world mythological traditions. Everything then combined into a fantasy world. Players enter the world as Weavers, the name given to beings shaped by the divine. They’re also given sacred missions that may determine the world's fate.

The creatures that players will fight are called the corrupted and take what the divine had left behind to restore the world’s balance. As with most HoYoverse games, players unlock new regions throughout their adventure, experiencing new cultures, ecology, and history that tell more of the world's story.

Battle Mechanisms

So far, Nodusfall has shown smooth and polished combat despite still being in an early build. The basics are easy to learn as the game uses the common combat controls. However, players can also explore more complex mechanics for a bigger challenge.

Battles in the current Nodusfall version have three stages. Once you’re done with the first boss fight, you’ll automatically be teleported into the second boss’s domain. It’s exciting in a way, because you won’t be able to know what you’ll face next. It’s chaotic, but rewarding, as bosses will drop items that can help your character skill up.

Each boss has different things that players might have to get used to. The environment also has many interactable elements. There are other elements that players might have to destroy, or some points may make your character launch into the air.

The characters players can control also provide different uses and talents. The current available characters include Qongqi, who relies on speed. There’s also Maldrake, who can summon a Knight with a spear. As usual, you can’t spam their abilities. Some take time to charge but deal more serious damage or reach a wider area.

Release Date

HoYo hasn’t announced an official release date for Nodusfall yet, but it’s predicted to come out in 2028. Right now, HoYoverse still has Petit Planet planned to release in 2026 and Honkai: Nexus Anima planned to release in 2027.
