  • Primary Subject: Marvel's Blade
  • Key Update: In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bethesda's Todd Howard officially put an end to recent cancellation rumors for Marvel's Blade.
  • Status: Confirmed
  • Last Verified: June 23, 2026
  • Quick Answer: No, Marvel's Blade is not cancelled; Bethesda executive producer Todd Howard confirmed the project is very much still in development.

Marvel's Blade was first announced in 2023, and since then, news about the game has been little to none.

Arkane Studios first revealed Marvel's Blade with a trailer during The Game Awards 2023. No new trailer or concept has been revealed since then. The most recent update we got on the game was back in 2025, when the studio's co-creative director Dinga Bakaba confirmed on X that the game was still in development.

The silence had people worried. However, it seems people can now breathe easy with a new update regarding the game's progress.

We Finally Got a Marvel's Blade Update

Earlier this week, Entertainment Weekly released a piece breaking down the 2026 Xbox Showcase and interviewing top executives due to the company's 25th anniversary. There, Todd Howard - the director and executive producer at Bethesda Game Studios - gave fans a small update about Marvel's Blade.

While he couldn't give players any hints on the game's release date, the update confirmed the title is still being worked on at Arkane Studios, throwing away all the worries about it being silently cancelled out the window.

"I’m not at liberty to say when [we’ll see more], but I saw some stuff just yesterday [on May 21], and the folks at Arkane [Studios, the developers] are doing a really, really great job,” Howard told the publication.

The interview was held back in May but was published on June 22, which means the game is probably in a slightly better state now. Hopefully, the next update will be soon, and we'll get a second trailer (and maybe a release date).

Marvel's Blade will be a third-person, single-player title, with an original narrative set in the heart of Paris.
