  • Quick Answer: The Valorant Champions Tour is changing, with no more league matches and only tournaments moving forward.

As hinted previously, a big format change is coming to the Valorant Champions Tour in 2027. Riot is putting aside the league match format and leaning all in on tournaments across the different regions.

There will be three global events in the 2027 season: two Masters and one Champions. The path to qualify for these events will be different, as any non-partnered team will have many opportunities throughout the year, and they won't have to compete for a full year in Ascension to earn a spot at the VCT.

First up, teams from each will be able to sign up for online open qualifier events. These can be community tournaments, partner events, collegiate events, Premier, and more. These tournaments will have prize pools, meaning teams can earn cash from here.

After that, the best teams will participate in international Cups, which will be disputed at all major regions (Pacific, EMEA, Americas, and CN).

There will be two Cups per region, one for the path to qualify for the second Masters and one for the path to qualify for Champions. A kickoff tournament will take place to allow teams to qualify for the first Masters. These tournaments will replace the regular season matches from previous years.

The Kickoffs and Cups will be held on LAN, with most of the matches taking place at Riot's studios and a weekend event for the final games at other venues. This means that the VCT will host events in more than 16 different cities around the world.

Funds will be made available in time to allow teams from open qualifier events to travel to the events.

Riot briefly mentioned that funds will also be distributed for Game Changers, but they didn't specify whether it will adopt the same format as the VCT. However, they did promise to reveal more information on GC as we get closer to this year's Champions event.
