As a roguelike, Hades 2 is tougher than most others in the genre, even more so than its predecessor, which was known for its challenge. Still, despite its difficulty, some have proven skilled enough to beat it and are now left wondering what to do next.
Luckily, there's a lot of post-game content that can keep such players around, most of which is worth doing, except for one. Of all the endgame challenges Supergiant Games placed in the sequel, becoming Night's Champion is one that I strongly believe is a waste of time.
I took it upon myself to earn the title, and after spending a good amount of time, I was able to acquire it. However, I gained no satisfaction from doing so, and the reward that comes with becoming Night's Champion, or lack thereof, was not worth the trouble.
If you put in the effort to get it, Hades 2 will reward you with the final Gift of the Veil, and while that sounds exciting, all that really means is you get a muscular statue of Melinoe for your trouble. Much like the previous two that you've earned from attempting to get the title, all it does is act as a bragging rights trophy, and one that's not even nice to look at.

Such a reward feels like a slap in the face, given that I had to go through and finish a much more difficult Underworld and Surface run. I would have even taken a large amount of Moon or Star Dust as the spoils for becoming Night's Champion, as at least those two serve a purpose and can actually strengthen you or make Hades 2 more interesting.
With that said, your time is better spent on the game's other optional challenges, as they actually reward you with something great and spice things up while still being difficult. The best example I can provide is seeing the end of the Vow of Rivals.
Doing so means seeing completely different versions of the Guardian fights you've been accustomed to, meaning you'll experience new attack patterns, arenas, and even dialogue. That in itself is already a reward, and couple that with the satisfaction you can get from beating the optional challenge, it makes the road to becoming Night's Champion feel greatly inferior in comparison.

There is at least a small benefit for trying to earn the title, and that comes in the form of two Hades 2 achievements, but that only really means something for those who are trying to get every single one. If you aren't one of those people, then there really isn't any point in attempting to earn any of the Gifts of the Veil.
It's a shame that becoming Night's Champion doesn't really amount to much, as Supergiant Games could have made it into an amazing reward. Unfortunately, that isn't the case, and I am upset over the missed opportunity. Players are better off avoiding it, unless they would like to feel the same disappointment that I experienced.
