For those who have spent a good amount of time playing Hades 2, they've likely already discovered that Zagreus plays an important role in the game, as well as being a potential opponent to face. While the main character from the previous game did do his part in helping his sister vanquish the Titan of Time, he didn't do a good job of being a worthy adversary.
I have gone through the game in its entirety, and as soon as I was able to take hold of that contract, which allowed me to face the Prince of the Underworld, I was ready for a battle that would blow me away. Instead, what I fought was a cheap rendition of his father's fight from the original Hades, and I was thoroughly disappointed.
As for why the fight is such a letdown, it's because of the missed opportunities that Supergiant Games failed to take. In the previous game, Zagreus was a capable main character, one whose agility, power, and weapons were used by players to take on even the toughest of foes.
Seeing him again, it would be right to expect him to use everything he has against you as a way of paying homage to how strong you've made him in the previous game. Unfortunately, he is nothing like how you would expect him to be.

Between Hades and Hades 2, it's clear that Zagreus was a monster of a fighter in the former, but a subdued showman in the latter. Again, his fight feels similar to that of his father in the previous game, but that's actually a bad thing. It made sense for the God of the Underworld to be slow but powerful, as he looked as if he was designed to be so, but it doesn't make sense for Zagreus.
Those who controlled him in the original Hades felt how fast his movements and attacks were, and expected that to be translated to his fight in the sequel. So, it doesn't make sense that he'd feel lethargic when facing him in combat, to the point that even Chronos, the Titan of Time with grandfather-like appearance, feels more agile than he is.
If that isn't enough to convince you that Zagreus' battle is disappointing, then perhaps the lack of him using any of his Infernal Arms will. The only thing he's equipped with is his father's spear, Gigaros, and nothing else.
This is such a shame, as it would have been amazing to see him switch between weapons like Aegis or Coronacht from the previous game, and use them in ways he would have if controlled by a player. Instead, all we have is him using the spear to do a few renditions of a stab attack and a spin move, a far cry from what we should have gotten.

Hades 2 should have been the perfect opportunity to show why everyone adored Zagreus by giving him an amazing boss fight, but I suppose Supergiant Games decided it wasn't worth the effort to do so. Perhaps if the developer provides the sequel with DLC, they can give fans the fight they deserve against the Prince of Darkness. One can only hope that will happen, but for now, we'll have to settle for what we have.
