Want to know if you should do the Surface or Underworld run first in Hades 2? Don't worry, I'm here to help.
The first-ever sequel developed by Supergiant Games, Hades 2 is an absolute masterpiece, dwarfing the first game in terms of content offered. Unlike Zagreus' adventure, which saw him try to escape the depths of the Underworld, Melinoe can either try to take down Chronos in the Underworld or climb all the way to Mount Olympus to help out the Gods against a mighty threat.
So, which path should you focus on during your early runs in Hades 2? Let's find out. While you're here, check out our full Hades 2 Gods tier list to help you choose the right boon for the job.
Should You Do Surface or Underworld Runs First in Hades 2?
For me, focusing on Underworld runs early on will be more valuable.
The big reason for this is that you'll be able to farm some important resources, such as Silver, which can be found in Erebus. You'll need a ton to upgrade and even obtain new weapons, Aspects, Arcana cards, and gathering tools.
Furthermore, obtaining access to the Surface run is a bit more convoluted, as it involves finding resources for a specific incantation that will allow Melinoe to resist being out in the vastness of the surface world for a longer period of time.
That being said, once you can start doing surface runs, I suggest you start mixing where you want to go, as you'll find plenty of valuable resources and meet new NPCs in the brand-new locales like Ephyra and Mount Olympus.
The game does a fairly good job at giving you loose directions to follow, so either way, you really can't go wrong with however you want to approach your quest to vanquish the Titan of Time, Chronos.
