Tekken 8 players are putting on their tinfoil hats after discovering that the upcoming character, Miary Zo, bears a striking resemblance to Tekken’s enigmatic True Ogre.

Conspiracy theorists have been buzzing on X after noticing that Miary Zo’s bangle carries the same symbol as the mark on True Ogre’s arm. Even more curious, her ankle cuffs resemble those worn by Ancient Ogre. This has sent fans into a frenzy, speculating that Miary Zo’s arrival in Tekken 8 could be tied to the return of a not-so-fan-favorite character.

Some players believe Miary Zo could be a reincarnation of Ancient Ogre. Supporting this theory is her striking red eyes, which Tekken 8 director Harada-san once said have deep lore significance. In a past interview, Harada also confirmed that there’s always an Ogre on every continent within Tekken’s wildly expansive lore.

Other fans have also shared theories suggesting her skill set is linked to imitating animals, an ability reminiscent of how Ogre steals fighting styles from around the world. Part of the speculation stems from the idea that she’s an animal lover because she hasn’t had much experience fighting actual fighters. One fan even joked that the reincarnation of Ancient Ogre as a cute girl is a "funny outcome."

Ogre has long been a terrifying force in Tekken’s history. He served as the main antagonist in Tekken 3 and returned in Tekken 5’s Devil Within storyline, where the Ogre logo even appears on certain walls. For those unfamiliar, this beast is said to be an alien weapon of war. It’s a wild backstory, but then again, that’s just another day for Tekken.

With Miary Zo set to join Tekken 8 in Winter 2025, fans are left to speculate further, especially with only 45 seconds of footage to gather following the Armor King trailer.

The main storyline of Tekken 8 has already taken a dramatic turn, with Jin embracing both his Devil and Angel sides and Kazuya being momentarily defeated. Introducing an Ancient Ogre arc would certainly add another exciting layer to the evolving narrative. Still, it’s a fighting game where characters punch and kick each other to near-death, so diving deep into the lore is more for those who love the details. The rest are just here for the fun.

Either way, it looks like the Tekken team might be cooking up something big with the Ancient Ogre storyline. Who knows? Maybe the conspiracy theories are right.
