Team Cherry isn't resting on its laurels following the highly successful release of Hollow Knight: Silksong, confirming plans for upcoming DLC while hinting that, following said content, their next major project may move away from the Hollow Knight IP entirely.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Team Cherry co-founder Ari Gibson confirmed the team is working on DLC for Silksong. The content seems to be in very early development, as Gibson issued a warning to players: don't expect information anytime soon.

"We’ll start talking about it more soon, but maybe we won’t mention a timeframe right now."

Silksong itself started as DLC for the original Hollow Knight, released in 2017. It eventually became a massive project that took almost a decade to see the light of day.

While it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility this newly unveiled DLC plan turns into Hollow Knight 3, Team Cherry is already looking ahead at a future post-Pharloom, with Ari Gibson stating that the devs do want to explore other brand-new worlds in the near future, citing how long it took for them to wrap up Silksong as one of the biggest reasons.

“The only time concern really is — and we’ve talked about this before — death. It’s not that far off if you spend seven years per project, and potentially add another two. So it’d be nice to do a few more games (...)

That’s not to say we won’t return to these Hollow Knight worlds. We do have ideas around what forms those would take. But we also don’t want to be exclusively people that make Hollow Knight.”

Whichever next project Team Cherry cooks up, we're sure it'll be of the highest quality possible.
