  • Quick Answer: Subnautica 2 features all-new planet Proteus Leviathans like the aggressive Collector, pack-hunting Shivers, and mysterious titans like the World Tree and Deepwing Brooder.

Subnautica 2 has one of the scariest oceans in the gaming world, and that's because of the sea monsters.

The sea monsters - more commonly known as Leviathans - roam the depths of the sea in the Subnautica universe. Coming across one is dangerous and might signal the end of your in-game life. And yet, seeing them is one of the key points of the game.

Curious about the Leviathans in Subnautica 2? Here's everything we know.

All Confirmed Leviathans in Subnautica 2

Subnautica 2 features all-new Leviathans from the original Subnautica and Below Zero. These massive creatures inhabit the alien planet of Proteus. They are dangerous predators that roam the deepest and darkest biomes - encountering them can mean instant death.

As the game has just been released, not all Leviathans have been discovered yet. However, some have already appeared or been teased in dev logs and trailers.

Here are all the confirmed Leviathans in Subnautica 2:

  • Collector Leviathan
  • Shiver Leviathan
  • World Tree
  • Deepwing Brooder Leviathan
  • Unknown Clam Leviathan
  • Unknown Flying Leviathan

Out of all the Leviathans mentioned, the Collector Leviathan (pictured above) is the most common. It was featured in trailers and dev vlogs for the game. It is currently the largest known Leviathan in Subnautica 2 and immediately starts chasing you when it sees you.

The Shiver Leviathan is extremely dangerous and hunts in packs. These Leviathans will surround you on all sides - you won't be able to escape and will likely be on-shot.

The World Tree is a titan-class Leviathan, but players likely won't be able to meet it until more updates come out. It's likely the largest Leviathan to date, but since it's dormant (for now), you don't need to worry about it.

A massive, fantastical tree-like structure rises from the sea, its trunk wide and textured, with bulbous green formations and red accents under a serene sky.

Finally, two unknown Leviathans were spotted in the Early Access cinematic trailer. One appears to be modeled after a giant clam, while the other is seen flying. No information is known about them as of this writing.

We'll likely see new Leviathans the more people play the game. But don't expect old Leviathans from the previous games to appear. Unknown Worlds has stated that they won't appear, and that is by design. After all, this is a new planet. And a new planet means new creatures.
