  • Quick Answer: Street Fighter 6 is releasing two new modes, Random Avatar Matches and Avatar Arcade, on May 28, offering new ways to play and earn rewards with your Avatars.

Street Fighter 6 keeps adding content, and an upcoming update will bring two new modes: Random Avatar Matches and Avatar Arcade on May 28.

It's no secret that the Battle Hub and Avatar customization were a slam dunk for Capcom. I can attest to the fact that there's a whole other subculture of Street Fighter players who have never touched ranked, spending thousands of hours in Avatar battles.

I'll break down what each of these modes will offer. Believe me when I tell you these are much more intricate than you might think.

Street Fighter 6 Random Avatar Matches Explained

Random Avatar Matches are essentially Casual Matches in regular Street Fighter 6, but for dedicated Avatar users.

The parameters of all Avatars will be fixed, meaning no level or gear disparities. All Master styles will be at a player's disposal, letting you craft your perfect Avatar to duke it out against other opponents.

While there's no dedicated ranked system, there will be rewards up for grabs nonetheless, based on the amount of Avatar Points you accumulate.

These points don't function like LP or MR in Master rank, as you won't get deducted for losing; they are just a way to track your progress towards rewards. These include:

  • Avatar Items
  • Special colors for regular fighters' outfit 2 (including Ed, Luke, and Jamie)

Street Fighter 6 Avatar Arcade Explained

By far the best addition with this mode is Avatar Arcade, which is a beefy single-player offering with tons of content to unlock. It's divided into two sections: Spar with a Master, and Battle Tour.

In Spar with a Master, you'll be able to grind against a single opponent to unlock their general style, specific moves, and get items/gear. The harder the difficulty, the faster it will be to learn new moves, and the quality of the gear will be improved.

Once you're done practicing, Battle Tour is essentially Arcade mode for Avatars. You can set a difficulty path and fight NPCs from World Tour as well as regular fighters. Rewards include cinematics from past games, and even outfit 2 for all characters. By filling the Acquisition gauge (you can do so by defeating the Masters for a certain amount of time), you'll be able to obtain these secondary outfits free of charge.

Honestly, both of these are great ways to get people who haven't tried Avatar content in a long time. Grinding on World Tour could be tedious, and with how OP some of the custom characters are in the Battle Hub, leveling the playing field feels like an excellent idea.

As mentioned, all of this content will be available on Street Fighter 6 on May 28, alongside the release of Ingrid.
