  • Quick Answer: Street Fighter 6 is ending new content updates for its World Tour single-player mode after Year 4.

Street Fighter 6 has officially said goodbye to any potential World Tour updates coming with Year 4 and beyond. The Ingrid release came with a notice about updates slowing down, which was later confirmed by game director Takayuki Nakayama and producer Shuhei Matsumoto.

In an interview with Dexerto, Nakayama confirmed that Year 4, which includes three newcomers and Final Fantasy’s Tifa, will not arrive alongside any more World Tour content. That said, the team isn’t opposed to making other narrative-based content if the opportunity presents itself.

“There won’t be any further updates to World Tour, but I’d like to keep the content maintained and perhaps convey some other narrative elements.”

This is a bizarre decision. The game’s doing incredibly well partially because it captured a brand-new casual audience that spends dozens of hours in World Tour and Battle Hub. Now that Capcom took a bold decision in making the season pass all brand-new characters plus a guest, they’re ditching single-player updates?

On the subject of what type of content could potentially be developed in response to completely ditching World Tour, Nakayama immediatly shut down options of the team focusing on spicing up game mechanics, as they would feel it would be too complicated if they started adding new stuff.

“We released it in a state where the mechanics were already quite refined, so we aren’t really planning to add new systems at this stage. That said, we are conducting various experiments. Still, I wonder if there’s anything we could potentially add down the line.”

As mentioned, Street Fighter 6 Year 4 will bring four new characters to the game: Yasmine, Arjun, Tifa, and Bosch. Yasmine will be released on August 3, with Tifa expected to launch at some point in early 2027.
