Steam just announced a slew of new hardware, including the Steam Machine, PC with the heart of a gaming console that's up to six times more powerful than a regular Steam Deck.

It's clear Valve's strategy of slowly introducing the Steam brand into the hardware ecosystem has proved fruitful, and the Steam Machine could be the final nail in the coffin for the long-standing "console wars" between the likes of Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo.

The Steam Machine won't be playing your games out of the cloud. It is a proper console, with versions including both 512GB and 2TB of storage. As for specs, both the CPU and GPU are custom-made AMD components, capable of hitting 4K at 60FPS in highly demanding AAA games, according to Valve.

As mentioned, the Steam Machine is, for all intents and purposes, a PC. So you can install apps and use the device like a regular personal computer if you want to. Yes, that means you'll be able to run Game Pass on the system. Suffice to say, it does run on SteamOS, which is optimized for gaming.

Beyond that, Steam also revealed the Steam Controller and the Steam Frame. The former is a unique controller with all the bells and whistles you want to make the most out of your Steam Machine: gyro controls, a Steam button, and trackpads.

As for the Frame, well, it's a VR headset if you still care for that. The entire suite of hardware is set to release in early 2026 with no price tags attached yet.
