Wolfgang Krauser is set to release this April 24, making him the fourth character of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves season 2, which is happening at a blistering pace, with one character released per month.

Krauser is one of the most anticipated characters of the season, as fans look forward to seeing a veteran of the series who hasn't been seen in quite some time.

Speaking to Gfinity, City of the Wolves game director Hayato Konya revealed the biggest hurdles in bringing Krauser back and integrating him into a brand-new title.

"If I had to name the biggest challenge, it wasn’t so much the mechanics as deciding which version of Krauser to use. Krauser’s appearance varies considerably depending on the game he’s in, and I wondered whether players might have different ideas of what he should look like."

Krauser is perhaps most known for his appearance in Fatal Fury 2 as a boss and later in Fatal Fury Special, where he would become a playable character. He's also been a part of The King of Fighters, showing up in 96' and 98: Ultimate Match. Konya went into detail explaining what inspired his physical appearance in City of the Wolves.

"For this implementation (his first time in 3D), we’ve adjusted his size and other details so that players will recognize him as the Krauser from back then," adding that, gameplay-wise, Krauser really meshed well with COTW's system mechanics. "In terms of combat, his inherent strengths already align quite well with this game’s system, so there was no need for major changes. Along with new techniques, he’ll be using classic moves like the infamous Kaiser Wave, so I think players will feel a sense of nostalgia, particularly the nostalgia associated with him as an extremely tough boss."

Alongside Krauser, there will be major overhauls to the game, including a brand-new story mode that will explain what the imposing Wolfgang's been up to around South Town. Fans deeply immersed in the lore of Fatal Fury initially had suspicions about SNK bringing back Geese. They were later happy to discover that the developers respected the canon, using a shadow version (Nightmate Geese) instead.

Krauser, who was defeated back in Fatal Fury 2, has always had a much more ambiguous fate, which is why City of the Wolves will clear out a lot of what the mysterious half-brother of Geese has been up to. "There are several story elements that will be revealed about Krauser, so please look forward to experiencing his story in the game."

Wolfgang Krauser will be available on Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves this upcoming April 24, alongside a major update that will add a brand-new story mode, Wolves' Destiny, massive UI overhauls, and balance changes.
