Hades 2 finally has a release date, and I can’t help but shake the feeling Silksong robbed us of an incredible shadow drop. The Supergiant Games roguelike will drop on September 25, coming as a limited-time console exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 1 & 2 and PC (via Steam).
The reveal happened during the highly anticipated September Nintendo Direct with an incredible animated trailer that showcased protagonist Melinoe facing perilous foes on her way to reach Cronos, the main antagonist of the sequel. Some gameplay was sprinkled throughout before the reveal date was dropped.
Anticipation was definitely building, and with how coy Supergiant Games has been with the release date, only stating that they were targeting a 2025 launch date, it felt like the perfect opportunity to shadow drop the 1.0 version of the game. Oddly, it’s coming in two weeks' time.
This is merely speculation, but part of me can’t shake the feeling that the Hollow Knight: Silksong’s release just last week made Supergiant pivot to a slightly less inconvenient release date. Mind you, it’s still close to Team Cherry’s behemoth, but at least there’s a bigger breathing room and time for players to finish exploring Pharloom before jumping on Hades 2, which will run at a great 120FPS docked on Switch 2 (it's 60FPS handheld, sadly).
