The reveal trailer lists 2027 as the intended release date, but the sentiment was that the game was on track to release in the first half of the year. However, leaker Dusk Golem has revealed that three of their sources indicated the game is now targeting a Fall 2027 release.
"There is a high chance it might've slipped into a Fall 2027 release. I trust the people I've heard this from," the leaker stated in a series of posts on X. Dusk Golem has a good track record when it comes to Resident Evil and Capcom leaks, but it's always important to take news with a grain of salt.
As for the reason for this internal delay, the leaker was aware of the development team making "some late changes to the game, the scope," and they may have "decided to go more ambitious with some changes."
In a follow-up question from a user on X, the leaker said the Arctic section was being expanded, with the developers trying to make snowmobiles playable, but they don't know the end result or whether that was achieved at the moment.
Resident Evil Veronica will continue Claire Redfield's story after the events of Resident Evil 2, where she will travel to France looking for her brother Chris, but things won't go as planned. The game will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam.
