  • Quick Answer: Capcom's latest horror epic runs natively on Switch 2 without the need for a Cloud version, boasting high-end graphical features.

Resident Evil Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi revealed he was shocked at how easy the Nintendo Switch 2 was able to run the game while they were porting it to the hybrid system.

Revealed during a Creator's Voice video in the Nintendo of America YouTube channel, Nakanishi explained that the Switch 2 boasts major specs improvements over the first iteration of the console, which led to curiosity at Capcom about whether or not it could run RE9, doing so with "ease," according to Nakanishi.

"The Nintendo Switch 2 system has improved graphical specs, so we wondered if Requiem could run on it - and it did, with ease." He later added that the team was very doubtful at first, and were shocked when they saw their project playable on what's essentially a portable tablet.

"When we first saw it in our hands, we were skeptical too, so we had to do a triple-take. We thought to ourselves 'Oh, is this really running on Nintendo Switch 2?'"

Oddly enough, Nakashini also showed a bit of fascination for the Switch 2's Game Chat feature, explaining it's "perfect for horror games," by saying that those who are perhaps too afraid to play through Grace and Leon's adventure on their own can share their journey with friends.

"I feel like Game Chat was made just for Resident Evil," he concluded.

While we can't attest to the quality of the Game Chat feature while playing RE Requiem, we did try this version of the game at a preview event. You can check out our full thoughts in the video down below.
