After Crimson Desert’s launch garnered mixed reviews, Pearl Abyss has confirmed that free updates will continue to be implemented to enhance and improve the overall player experience.
On March 27, Pearl Abyss held its annual general shareholders meeting. There, they spoke about the game’s milestones so far, regret over the storyline, player criticism, the possibility of a DLC, and more.
Pearl Abyss Acknowledges Accomplishments & Player Criticisms
During the meeting, CEO Heo Jin-Young stated they will do their best to make Crimson Desert a game that will be loved for many years following its successful launch.

He stated, "Since its launch, Crimson Desert has continued to deliver solid results, ranking at number one in Steam revenue, reaching 240,000 concurrent users, and selling 3 million copies within just four days. We will continue improving the game through ongoing patches, such as refining controls based on user feedback."
During the Q&A session, Pearl Abyss responded to criticism that the game’s storyline was lacking, stating that they partially agree with the disappointment felt by players regarding the weak narrative.
They added that the development team did their best to fill the gaps within the limited time available, but they ultimately focused on their core strength: the gameplay.
Pearl Abyss Talks Possibility of DLC
Pearl Abyss was also asked if they planned to release a paid DLC for Crimson Desert. They confirmed that nothing has been decided and that their current focus is on releasing free patches instead.

Heo said, "While selling expansion packs is one approach, there are also games that generate revenue by boosting sales of the base game through content expansion. We want to make strategic decisions that help Crimson Desert sell more as a main title."
