NYT Strands hints and answer

Today's Spangram is just so so. The theme “Ketchup or mustard,” my brain immediately went to hot dogs and cookout food. Then the hints BRAT, BANGER, FOOTLONG, WEENIE—all connected to sausages or hot dogs in different ways.

A brat is basically a bratwurst, a banger is slang for sausage, a footlong is the giant hot dog size, and weenie is classic hot dog slang. Then HOTDIGGITYDOG comes to my mind which fits perfectly—it’s that fun expression people say when talking about hot dogs or getting excited.

To find it, scan the board from the left side on the third line, starting with the letter H, which is the first letter from the bottom. Continue scanning the board to the next letter, following the letter track vertically until G to complete the Spangram.

How does the NYT Strands Spangram work?

The Spangram is a unique feature of Strands puzzles; it’s a single word or phrase that connects two sides of the grid, encapsulating the day's theme. Finding the Spangram early often makes solving the rest of the puzzle much easier.
