  • Quick Answer: My Little Puppy is a bittersweet adventure game following Bong-gu, a Corgi searching for his owner in the afterlife, launching May 29, 2026, on Switch.

During the Indie World Showcase, one of the standout games was definitely My Little Puppy, which will be available on the Nintendo eShop on May 29, 2026, with a physical release in June.

I took a peek at the trailer, and although it's less than 2 minutes long, I shed a few tears. Any furparent knows how painful it is when your best friend crosses the rainbow bridge. This game centers on that concept: where do our pets go after they've passed, and do we get to see them on the other side?

What is My Little Puppy About?

In the upcoming cozy game My Little Puppy, you play as a once-abandoned Welsh Corgi named Bong-gu. When he was younger, he was cared for by a family and well-loved. However, the years passed, and he became an 8-year-old senior dog with various illnesses. The family that once loved Bong-gu abandoned him, forcing the pup to live in an animal shelter.

Bong-gu thought he would live his last days in despair at the shelter, but that wasn't the case. One day, an awkward but well-meaning man adopts Bong-gu. From that day on, Bong-gu lived like every happy dog: eating, sleeping, playing games with his owner, and marveling in his scent.

Those happy days didn't last forever, and one day, Bong-gu crossed the rainbow bridge and passed away. His last days were simple yet filled with love.

One day, in dog heaven, Bong-gu wakes up from a nap and sniffs a familiar scent, the scent of his dad. Determined to find him, Bong-gu escapes dog heaven. Just as his dad once found Bong-gu, it is now the doggo's turn.

As Bong-gu, you will explore the world outside of dog heaven, the border between life and death.

As you cross different terrains, you will meet different people and dogs that will help you on your journey. Sniff, bark, run, and jump until you reach your destination with the help of your new friends.

Warning: My Little Puppy WILL Make You Cry

My Little Puppy will definitely be a bittersweet run-through.

For people who have lost a pet, we are all waiting to meet our once-in-a-lifetime furbuddy once again. If you have a senior pet, this game might also hit close to home. However, it also gives a sense of comfort: when the time comes, we will be reunited with them.

In dog heaven, they can rest and run around all they want. And when the time comes, hopefully we will be with them once more.

Will Bong-gu be able to reunite with his dad? Well, you'll have to tearfully play it yourself on Nintendo Switch to find out. Just be sure to have those tissues at the ready!
