Gamescom just got a lot more interesting, as new Resident Evil: Requiem gameplay has been confirmed for the show. This is one of the most anticipated games coming out next year, so knowing that there’s going to be a new gameplay demo has fans buzzing. It should also show fans who the next playable character is, and if it’s going to be Leon S. Kennedy.

Everyone’s favorite/least-favorite host, Geoff Keighley, revealed that Requiem is going to get an exclusive gameplay reveal during Gamescom. This will be during the show’s Opening Night next week, on August 19, so fans will want to get ready for Capcom’s survival horror title.

Capcom teased that Resident Evil: Requiem will have a more heavily armed character join new protagonist Grace Ashcroft. The devs teased that this might not be Leon Kennedy, but given how much fan demand there is for him, we wouldn’t be surprised if he at least made some kind of appearance. Regardless, we’re excited to see what this new gameplay will look like, especially since players can switch between first-person and third-person.

After everything we’ve seen from Resident Evil 7 and Village, there’s no doubt that Capcom will give us a quality horror experience with Requiem. The company is also still pretty good with its action, as Resident Evil 4: Remake and the new Onimusha have shown. Capcom has become a must-watch company over the past few years, so this gameplay showcase is bound to get some attention.

Resident Evil: Requiem is the series’ official continuation, with many even calling it Resident Evil 9 since Village was technically the eighth entry. Switching between first and third-person modes should make this the most accessible entry in the series so far, giving fans complete control over how they want to play the game.
