  • Quick Answer: A new listing suggests Resident Evil 5 is being prepared for modern hardware

The Resident Evil Remake sub-series has proven to be a massive success for Capcom, and it looks like Resident Evil 5 is next in line.

The combined sales of RE2, RE3, and RE4 Remakes have almost reached 40 million copies, so of course, Capcom wants to keep tapping into the well. Resident Evil 5 may seem like an odd choice, considering fans are clamoring for a Resident Evil: Core Veronica reimagining, but a recent listing seems to indicate the adventures of Chris Redfield and Sheva are due for a makeover.

The listing itself reveals very little other than mentioning the game is set for release on Xbox Series, which could indicate it's a new version of RE5. Alternatively, it could very well be a port or a more straightforward remaster.

It's worth noting that the cadence of releases would suggest a new remake is not far from becoming a reality. RE2R was released in January 2019, followed by a much smaller RE3R in 2020. Leon's iconic journey through Spain in RE4 Remake launched in March 2023. In between all of them, RE Village came out in May 2021.

Next in line is Resident Evil Requiem, which will see the return of a much older Leon Kennedy, who will act as a dual protagonist alongside Grace Ashcroft. Capcom isn't shy about consistently releasing new Resident Evil content, so it's very possible that once Requiem hits stores, the marketing moves to a brand-new remake in the near future.
