The September Nintendo Direct closed out with a bang by revealing Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. The game is set to come out exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.
What intrigued fans beyond the incredibly visual style of the game, which will definitely take advantage of the Switch 2’s better horsepower, is that it looks like a potential sequel to the beloved Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Eagled-eyed fans could spot a Heroes Relic being used by one of the new characters.
The most telling clue was the inclusion of what appears to be an older-looking Sothis sitting on the throne. Players first talked with her during the events of Three Houses.
As for the gameplay, it looks like your standard Fire Emblem affair, except visually much more stunning. This is a vibrant world, colors popping, incredibly intense battle music, crisp animations. You can definitely tell the original Switch would struggle to run this properly.
Fans hoping for a big Smash reveal or teaser trailer might have ended up disappointed, but Fire Emblem fans will be eating good, especially since we can now admit FE Engage was little more than a cash grab.
