Minnesota ROKKR is no more, after the team announced a new rebranding in a rather funny way.
The G2-owned franchised posted a video on their social media account, seemingly advertising a rebrand and adopting the name G2 Berlin, but not because of Germany's capital, where the organization is currently based, but because of a town in the state of Wisconsin in the U.S.
The video quickly raised some eyebrows as the editing made it look more like a parody than a real announcement. A couple of hours after, the team posted another video confirming their authentic new name: G2 Minnesota, along with the caption "We're not fkin leaving."
The video doesn't include any roster announcements, which means fans will have to wait to see who is going to represent the franchise in the upcoming Black Ops 7 season.
ROKKR didn't have a great Black Ops 6 season, with the team not qualifying to Call of Duty Champs 2025 and placing 11th at the overall standings, with only Boston Breach behind them.
The team started the season with Nero, Gio, Estreal, and PaulEhx in their lineup, but parted ways with PaulEhx and replaced him with Kenny after he was dropped the Optic Texas roster before Major 3 Qualifiers.
After the last tournament in the Black Ops 6 season, EWC 2025, the team decided to drop Kenny, Gio, and Nero, and new replacements haven't been announced at the time of writing. Now with the G2 name front and center, we will have to wait and see what kind of players the team recruits for this new season.
