- Primary Subject: Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 2 (Nintendo Switch Port)
- Key Update: Konami has confirmed MGS4, Peace Walker, and Ghost Babel for the original 2017 Nintendo Switch, sparking immediate technical skepticism.
- Status: Announced (Releasing August 27, 2026)
- Last Verified: February 13, 2026
- Quick Answer: While the Switch 2 can handle these ports with ease, fans are questioning if the original Switch hardware can sustain a stable experience for Guns of the Patriots, especially after Vol 1 was locked to 30FPS on the same system.
The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 2 is finally real. Unveiled at the Sony State of Play, it will bring back MGS4 and Peace Walker in a single package, as well as the more obscure Metal Gear: Ghost Babel, the first handheld title in the series.
Later, Konami confirmed one interesting tidbit of information: the collection is coming to the Nintendo Switch. No, not the Switch 2, the original 2017 hybrid system.
There is no doubt that the recently released Switch 2 can easily handle ports of games from the PlayStation 3 era, especially considering how well it runs new upcoming titles like Resident Evil Requiem. The issue and doubts many fans have are whether the original Switch can actually run the collection properly and if it's worth buying it for said platform.
While we don't have proper confirmation of performance, we can infer it will be an inferior version to the ones players will be able to enjoy via PlayStation 5 and other platforms.
MGS Master Collection Vol 1 has versions of MGS2 and MGS3 that run at 30FPS, which is odd considering the original PlayStation 2 titles ran at a smooth 60. Konami is fixing this, but only for Switch 2 users with a brand-new free update.
In theory, the Nintendo Switch should be capable of running a PS3 and a PSP port. It remains to be seen if Konami does a proper job bringing both experiences to the system or if they'll remain condensed versions of the collection.
