With the closed beta codes for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls now in full swing, the hype for Arc System Works’ highly anticipated tag-fighting game is at an all-time high. Nobody could have guessed that we’d be getting the ultimate Marvel fighting game, and it just so happens to be a Tag Fighter from the creators of Guilty Gear and Dragon Ball FighterZ.
While we’ve only had a glimpse of the first eight characters from trailers, gameplay previews, and EVO 2025, here are some more Marvel icons we’d love to see playable in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.
The Fantastic Four

It goes without saying that Marvel Tokon needs the Fantastic Four. If Doctor Doom is already in, then Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Ben Grimm, and Johnny Storm should be there too. Including all four might be ambitious for Arc System Works, since it would take up four roster slots, so others could end up as side characters or background NPCs.
Putting them all in at once might be a stretch, but ArcSys could adopt a seasonal model and introduce one member of the team per season. That way, players wouldn’t feel overwhelmed.
Ms. Marvel already shares some similarities with Reed Richards in terms of stretchy powers, but Ben Grimm and Human Torch could bring unique gameplay. Ben could serve as a grappler, while Human Torch might be a rushdown hero. Invisible Woman, on the other hand, could be a zoner with her force fields and invisibility.
Magik

Who doesn’t want a hot woman with a giant sword? It’s about time Marvel gave more attention to their Darkchild princess. Thanks to Marvel Rivals, Magik’s popularity has grown mainstream.
In a fighting game, she could easily work as a shoto with an install mechanic tied to her Darkchild form. Imagine her gameplay shifting between two modes, much like Nagoriyuki in Strive. In her normal form, she could fight as a skilled swordswoman, but once she transforms into Darkchild, her damage output would increase, but maybe at the cost of her defensive power.
Squirrel Girl

With Marvel Rivals bringing her more attention, Squirrel Girl has finally stepped into the spotlight. In Tokon, her archetype feels obvious: a zoner who fights with an army of squirrels acting as projectiles.
She could also use unique tools like a giant acorn to pin enemies in place or her signature slingshot to deny opponents from closing in.
Nightcrawler

As one of the most beloved X-Men, Nightcrawler would be a standout addition to the roster. His teleportation abilities could make him Tokon’s answer to Street Fighter 6’s Dhalsim, allowing him to appear and disappear around his opponent to disrupt their flow.
Combine that with his dual swords mastery, and he could be devastating at mid-range thanks to his reach and agility.
Jubilee

On a more personal note, I’d love to see Jubilee finally become a playable fighter. In the past, she was relegated to being an assist character or a background NPC. Giving her a front-row role in Tokon would let her shine.
Her fireworks and vibrant energy could make her an annoying yet entertaining presence on the battlefield. She could thrive as a mid-range fighter or lean into being a zoner with her fireworks as projectiles.
Sentry/The Void

With the MCU’s Thunderbolts putting him in the spotlight, Sentry has gained renewed popularity. Some admire him as a tragic figure, while others see him as a fascinating representation of mental health struggles.
As a fighter, his dual nature could make him one of the most exciting hybrid characters in the game, much like Phoenix in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Bob’s Sentry form could fight as a defensive mid-range powerhouse, while The Void could emerge as a more aggressive zoner with full-screen command grabs and shadow-based attacks similar to Zato-1 from Guilty Gear.

Taskmaster

When all else fails, Taskmaster feels like the perfect fit for Tokon. His ability to mimic fighting styles could let ArcSys experiment in creative ways.
He could adopt moves inspired by Iron Fist, Bullseye, Hawkeye, or even Black Panther if ever they don’t make it to the final roster. Alternatively, ArcSys could take inspiration from Tekken’s Mokujin, making Taskmaster a wildcard who adopts a random moveset each time he’s selected.
And that’s our list. While there are countless other Marvel characters who would be a great fit for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, these heroes feel like the perfect candidates to join the roster of this ambitious tag fighter.
