Is ARC Raiders Pairing Players by Aggression? Fans Can’t Tell

ARC Raiders players are convinced that a hidden aggression-based matchmaking system is targeting its bloodthirsty playerbase, and it’s starting to get on their nerves.

Since its October 30 launch, ARC Raiders has attracted a growing player base exploring Topside. It has since cultivated a steady playerbase, ranging from 300,000 to 400,000 users on Steam alone. It was a home for many players who prefer a casual extraction shooter experience... until PvP becomes too frustrating.

While some of the playerbase prefer a pacifistic approach by not engaging in hostilities, there are others who love to mow down every Raider or Arc they meet along the way. This turns some do-gooding Raiders into paranoid looters, not trusting those whom they encounter on the road, despite shouting “Don’t Shoot!” every few seconds. Embark has no plans to split its PvE and PvP apart, as it’s all part of the magic.

Stella Montis is a PvP zone.

Aggressive players have noticed they’re often queued together, facing equally trigger-happy opponents. Like a taste of their own medicine, every encounter is mostly met with intense firefights and premature extractions, causing frustration among its PvP-centric community.

Those who always prefer PvP in their lobbies are reportedly paired with others who don’t hesitate to shoot every suspicious Raider they meet. Even in Solo plays, the ABMM still finds its way into rogue players such as the extraction Rats and campers. Whether it’s the basic Dam Battlegrounds Map or the more claustrophobic Stella Montis, they can’t escape mutual hostility.

Chill solo players, on the other hand, are queued on the friendliest lobbies known to man. Proximity chat becomes common, adding a sense of community in the game’s 30-40-minute raids. Some lobbies are even working together, taking down the game’s dangerous Arcs, and some love to record these action-packed moments like war footage.

What Embark Says About the Aggression-Based Matchmaking System

The Aggression-Based Matchmaking System has not been proven by the community yet. Embark remains quiet as the community goes full tinfoil-hat mode as to what’s going on. Active PvP Raiders are trying to be good lads, helping out wounded looters across Topside and handing out free items, only to be met with the full fury of another Raider who just had his entire loot stolen in the last game.

Some players are so deep into the PvP abyss that they’re almost always queued with John Rambo, shooting everything on sight without a single thought of diplomacy.

As of the moment, ABMM remains unproven. No one knows if it is a real system implemented stealthily by Embark, or it’s just an entire community going crazy over the game’s polarizing split of PvP and PvE enthusiasts.
