If there’s one thing ARC Raiders does completely right, it is that it gives plenty of options for players to just do whatever they want in the game. Whether it’s through regular old griefing and betraying players or helping out a fellow downed Raider with a defib, anything can happen in any of ARC Raiders’ lobbies.
One user, however, is doing things completely different. Reddit user u/ThatDude292 found a way to make things more interesting instead of hunting Arcs and unsuspecting Raiders: he records footage straight out of a war documentary.

Fellow raider u/ThatDude292 ditches the pressure of looting and extracting for recording incredibly cinematic footage taken around Topside.
Using the in-game Binoculars, he puts himself away from the firefight and places the focus of his pseudo-camera on the Raiders taking down the game’s massive machines. In the 2-minute 30-second clip he posted, you can see the sheer scale of the Matriarch inching closer to a team of Raiders. The camera then pans to the rest of the gang, taking potshots at the hulking machine with their Ferros and Hullcrackers.
User u/ThatDude292 isn’t the only user who prefers to stay in the sidelines and record historical footage for Speranza. Others, like YouTuber 0biwanKenobi, are also doing the same. He dubbed it “War Tapes,” and most of the clips he recorded are Raiders fending off a variety of Arc machines. In some of the tapes, he’s atop a vantage point recording a group of Raiders fighting Leapers, Matriarchs, and standard Wasps and Hornets. It’s a glorious sight to see.
Like a found footage movie like Cloverfield or shot on an old Super 8 camera, these clips highlight how cinematic ARC Raiders can be when players aren’t shooting at each other and focused on the game’s true clanker enemies.
The in-game binoculars are finally put to good use. Normally, these Raider tools aren’t too important. It’s mostly used to scout from a distance, checking to see if stealthy Raiders are trying to sneak from behind them. It’s also one of the cheapest items to craft in-game, so if you have an extra Raider tool slot with you, try grabbing one for yourself and see the game from a completely different perspective.
There doesn’t seem to be any war footage taken inside Stella Montis, considering that it’s a claustrophobic map with barely any vantage points. When someone decides to make one, though, the footage will feel like it’s straight out of a horror game. Resident Evil, much?
