Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase has come and gone, with no Hollow Knight: Silksong in sight. Luckily, there was still plenty of excellent indie games showcase in this Direct, showing that all the cool stuff isn’t just from AAA studios. There was a good combination of Switch and Switch 2 games shown off, with the original hybrid console still having some life in it.
So, without further ado, let’s get cracking with these Indie World Showcase games from the August 7th show.
Mina the Hollower
From the developers of Shovel Knight, Mina the Hollower was shown of in all its retro glory. Inspired by dungeon crawlers like Link’s Awakening, this top-down adventure will be coming to Switch and Switch 2 on October 31, 2025. A demo for the game is also available later today, so fans can try it out on their Nintendo hybrids soon.
Well Dweller

Coming to Nintendo Switch in 2026, Top Hat Studios’ Well Dweller looks like an incredibly creepy good time. Looking like another metroidvania with a unique art style, this beautiful indie title should stand out when it releases next year. We’re somewhat surprised this sidescroller is still coming to the original Switch, but the console has been home to many gorgeous sidescrollers.
Neverway
With visuals from the artist who worked on Celeste, Neverway looks like a morbid good time. A life sim RPG with real-time combat and sacrifices to a god, this creepy title could be a hit. Fans will have to wait till 2026 to get their hands on this unique title for Switch.
Herdling

A gorgeous game where players try to herd unique creatures, Herdling is scheduled for release later this month in August 21. Players will be able to command the creatures and have them solve environmental puzzles. This looks emotional and adorable, which makes it a perfect indie title.
Is this Seat Taken?
Coming to Switch later today, Is This Seat Taken is a unique puzzle game with social elements. Players need to place people around certain parts of the environment, sometimes causing awkward moments. One to keep your eyes on.
Little Kitty, Big City update

This open-world indie title is getting a huge update coming this year. Fans will soon be able to create their own cat and take pictures with them, thanks to a brand-new Photo Mode. It stays as one of the most relaxing and adorable games out there, so this update will only make it better.
Content Warning
Using those ghost shows you see on TV as inspiration, Content Warning is a unique take on the horror multiplayer genre. Players will need to work together in order to gain views while trying to survive in horrific environments. Coming to Switch and Switch 2 later in 2026.
Ball X Pit

A difficult roguelike that combines pinball mechanics with shoot-em-ups, Ball X Pit looks like the Vampire Survivors alternative fans didn’t know they wanted. The game is coming to Switch 2 this Fall, while original Switch owners can get it on October 15.
Ultimate Sheep Raccoon
Fans who like physics-based racing games with a little bit of Excite Bike energy might enjoy this unique little racer. Coming with an 8-player multiplayer mode, Ultimate Sheep Raccoon will rock the Switch and Switch 2 later this year.
Glaciered

The most unique-looking game here, and it’s a temporary Switch 2 exclusive. Glaciered combines the swimming of Subnautica with Zone of the Enders-like RPG combat, giving fans something unique. Unlike most of the games listed, this one isn’t coming to the original Switch.
