- Quick Answer: To win mahjong (Little Sparrow) in NTE, avoid your chosen Void Suit and build a hand of 4 sets (Chow, Pung, or Kong) and a pair.
One of the hardest mini-games in Neverness to Everness (NTE) is arguably mahjong.
Mahjong is easy to learn but difficult to master due to the intricacy of the rules. It might be overwhelming and cause you to ignore mahjong in NTE entirely. But once you get the hang of it, it can get addicting - especially when you get the largest score.
Here's how to play mahjong in NTE.
How to Play Mahjong in NTE
Mahjong in NTE is called Little Sparrow and can be accessed by clicking F5 (or whatever key it is on your device) and selecting Heatheareau Hobbies in the City Tycoon level. You need to be Hunger Level 11 to unlock Little Sparrow.

To play, you need to head over to the Little Sparrow Maid cafe in the Miguel District. Once inside, sit on one of the tables and match with other players. A game of Little Sparrow requires four players.

Once there are four players, the player in the East seat will start the game. The order then goes clockwise around the table. You are given 13 tiles at the start of the game, and you need to select three tiles sharing the same suit to pass to another player. You will receive your own set from another player.

After getting your set, you need to select one of three suits (Dots, Bamboo, or Characters) as the Void Suit. The selected suit can't be part of your winning hand. If your final hand has a Void Suit, you will get penalized.

Now, the game has officially started. Players take turns drawing a tile with the goal of completing sets. Sets come in the form of Chow, Pung, and Kong. If a player discards a tile that could fill a set, you can get it, so keep an eye out for the other player's moves. Chow is three consecutive tiles, Pung means three of a kind, and Kong is four of a kind.

To win, you need 4 sets and a pair. However, even if you have all of this, the game can keep going. Once you assemble a winning hand, you discard a tile and replace it immediately to rejoin the game. Completing a winning hand and getting Kong sets earns you points. The game continues until the draw pile is exhausted. The scores are tallied at the end.
