- Quick Answer: I had the chance to try Hell Let Loose: Vietnam early, and here are five things I learned about the game's new features.
Hell Let Loose: Vietnam will leave the WWII-era behind and feature the Vietnam War as a backdrop, offering new locations, weapons, vehicles, and more. The sequel will also ditch Unreal Engine 4, as it has been developed using Unreal Engine 5.
I had a little taste of the sequel earlier in the week, as Gfinity was invited to a private playtest to learn more about the game. The game offers several new things, many of which have already been announced or confirmed, but I also discovered other interesting details that HLL fans would like to know.
5 Things I Learned About Hell Let Loose: Vietnam
After a private test session, here are some of the most interesting things I learned about the upcoming sequel!

Players Can Now Select Seats Before Entering a Vehicle
This is a quality-of-life feature the community has been wanting to see in the first game for years. Instead of getting into a vehicle and then swapping seats until you get the desired one, the game now has a selection wheel that lets users pick a seat before entering any vehicle.
Boats Work as Vehicles and Respawn Points
In the private test, we played the classic Warfare game mode on the Thanh Hòa Bridge map. This map features a river, allowing players to use boats (one of the game's newest vehicle options) to transport their platoons.

Boats are not only a useful transport method, but they can also work as respawn points. There were some instances during the matches where I respawned at boats parked near the frontline. However, these can be dangerous, as sometimes they were in the middle of crossfires, and enemies could take you out quickly before they got rid of this respawn point.
One of the Launch Maps Will Have Fog at Ground Level
As teased by one of the developers during a short QnA session, one of the launch maps of Hell Let Loose: Vietnam will feature low-lying fog.
Given that the first game removed fog completely from one of its maps not long ago, mostly because of community feedback, it will be interesting to see how they tackle this aspect and how the fog will look with the new graphical engine.
A New Grenadier Loadout That Has Rifles With Grenade Launchers
The Grenadier loadout has received a massive improvement from the first game, as it now provides the player with a rifle equipped with a grenade launcher attachment. This is the same for both the United States and the Vietnamese side.

Although we didn't get to see it in the beta since level progression was locked, we also expect to get a separate grenade launcher with this loadout.
The Game Has Bayonets Now
Yes. The first game doesn't have it, but the sequel provides players with something they've wanted for a while: a bayonet attachment. The game makes that clear early on, as you get to use the bayonet in the tutorial.
As specified by the developers, all classes except for Machine Gunner and Sniper have access to the M16 with the bayonet attachment if the player is at a high enough level on the US side. On the Vietnamese side, the Type 56 comes with a bayonet attached from level 1 for most classes.
This configuration is not final, as the developers can do another design pass before launch and modify the access to this attachment based on player feedback.
