Halo 5 New Details Revealed; Free Maps, Co-op Updated Details, and More

New details are teased about 343 Industries upcoming release of Halo 5: Guardians in Game Informer’s latest digital issue.

343 has announced plans to release 15 free maps which should be available by June 2016. These complimentary maps will be added in addition to the 20 multiplayer maps reported to be available for the October launch.

The free DLC is said to be offered to avoid splitting the multiplayer field often found in online games, seperating those who purchased DLC maps from those who did not purchase them. So now you can look forward to playing all multiplayer maps with friends because all maps will be made available to everyone.

After some confusion yesterday, 343’s studio head Josh Holmes has clarified in a blog post that players will need an Xbox Live Gold subscription to play the online campaign stating:

A tease from Design Director, Kevin Franklin, advises E3 news will include a new “epic” multiplayer experience. No other information was given about the new multiplayer feature, but E3 is just around the corner.

Microsoft’s E3 press conference is scheduled for Monday, June 15 – 9.30am PDT/12.30pm EDT/5.30pm UK.
