As a roguelike, Hades 2 is as fun and as challenging as they come, and it certainly deserves all the popularity it has received. The game is enjoyable, but eventually, players will run out of things to do, so they subject themselves to personal challenges instead.
One of those is trying to see how fast they can finish a run in both the Surface and the Underworld. Those willing to give it a go will want to figure out which weapon is best at clearing room enemies as quickly as possible. Some might go for the Sister Blades, others the Witch's Staff, but I believe there is one weapon that does the best job: the Moonstone Axe.
Some may doubt that it would, and understandably so, given how slow the weapon can feel when attacking with it. However, due to the existence of aspects for the Nocturnal Arms, that issue is removed. Once players are granted the opportunity to upgrade their weapons, there is one in particular for the Moonstone Axe they should go for if they're planning to do quick runs: the Aspect of Thanatos.
What it does is increase the weapon's attack speed, along with giving it a chance to do critical damage with its Omega moves until you take damage. Those two changes turn the Moonstone Axe from a slow but powerful tool into one that allows you to blitz past every room in Hades 2.
If you take the time to upgrade the aspect to its fullest, its attack speed will be increased by 45%, meaning you can go even faster with those swings. Couple that with the critical chance when performing Omega attacks, and even the bosses with particularly large health pools will melt from all the damage you'll be doing.
If that wasn't enough, should you get lucky and pick up the Daedalus Boon Psychic Whirlwind, the pace you'll be going with your run will be even faster than ever. The upgrade allows you to use your other moves during your Omega attack animation, so you can imagine how much of a game-changer that is.
With it, you can be even more aggressive than you already are with the weapon, meaning your damage output increases by a lot. If you're able to pair that up with other Boons from the Gods that increase attack power, such as Aphrodite's Flutter Strike or Apollo's Nova Strike, then your run just got a whole lot quicker.
The only issue with the weapon is that with all that speed and power, you might be tempted to get too aggressive, which could be costly if you don't have any Death Defiances. So, just remember not to get too cocky, and you'll likely be fine.
With all that said, I strongly believe that the Moonstone Axe, with the Aspect of Thanatos, is the best at finishing runs as quickly as possible, and you should strongly consider picking it up. With the kind of upgrades it gets, it feels like Supergiant Games was pointing out that it would be the weapon of choice for a Hades 2 fastest time challenge, and I'm all for it.
