GTA Online A Safehouse in the Hills: How To Get Dogs

GTA online

In GTA Online’s A Safehouse in the Hills update, getting a dog isn’t as simple as whistling on the sidewalk or grabbing a stray off the street.

Pets are woven directly into the new endgame mansions, so the first non-negotiable step is owning one of those luxury properties.

Three hillside houses are up for purchase through the new high-end property listing: Tongva Estate, Richman Villa, and Vinewood Residence.

Despite their different locations and views, they share the same internal layout and feature set.

Once you’ve bought a mansion and stepped inside so the property fully loads in, the pet systems quietly unlock in the background.

Where Is the Dog Kennel and How Do You Access It?

Because the dogs are tied to an exterior doghouse, once you finish surveying the interior, head outside and explore the yard.

Near the driveway, patio, or the outdoor stretch beside the living room, you’ll notice a doghouse you can interact with.

Standing in front of it brings up a prompt to view and purchase a dog.

This is the main place to manage your dog, including buying one, changing how it looks, or switching its name whenever you feel like it.

Interacting with the kennel opens a simple menu where you scroll through every available breed, preview color variants, and then lock in your final pick along with a custom name.

What Dog Breeds and Customization Options Can You Choose?

The range of choices is bigger than you’d think, with Rockstar offering more than a plain mutt and giving each dog its own identifiable appearance.

The roster includes classic house-pet and guard-dog archetypes alike, with Husky, Poodle, Pug, Retriever, Rottweiler, Shepherd, and Westy breeds, each offering its own set of fur colors.

Huskies can spawn in both light and dark shades, Pugs can generate in black, brown, tan, or cream, Retrievers vary from gold to black to pale cream,

Rottweilers have options like brindle, red, gray, and lighter browns, Shepherds lean toward black, brown, or merle patterns, and Westies rotate between black, brown, and white.

No matter what you pick, the price is the same: every dog costs a flat GTA$15,000.
