The Nintendo Switch 2 is about to get one of the prettiest and most fun fighting games of recent years, as Arc System Works has confirmed that Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising is coming to the platform on September 17, as announced at Evo 2026.
There’s no denying Nintendo’s newest hybrid console is much beefier than its predecessor; even so, Arc Sys managed to do wonders with it by porting Dragon Ball FighterZ to the system. It is, of course, based on the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game, meaning it didn’t get the rollback netcode update, but still impressive nonetheless.
Things improved with Guilty Gear Strive’s port last year. The game does feature rollback netcode; however, Switch players are only able to match against other Nintendo users.
Fans are hopeful that with the Switch 2, Granblue Fantasy ends up being a port up to standards, which includes both rollback netcode and crossplay. More details will be shared at a later date.
The release of the Switch 2 version will be accompanied by a massive patch — it’ll add a brand-new DLC character, ID, new system mechanic, stage, costumes, and balance changes across the board.
