'Final Sentence' is a Type-or-Die Battle Royale and a Genius Twist on the Genre

Final Sentence

Final Sentence

There’s a new battle royale in the market and it’s something you least expect: It’s a typing game.

The Final Sentence is what happens when someone turns a regular typing test into a sadistic killing game a la Squid Game. Can’t type fast enough? You’re dead. Have a typo? Also dead. This is the impressive yet harrowing delights of this bizarre Battle Royale game.

As this is a Battle Royale, you can queue up with 20 up to 100 players and do your best to make it out alive.

Type or die.

Final Sentence’s rules are simple: All you have to do is type the given words on screen. Avoid having typos and misspelling, as you only have three chances to make mistakes. When it’s strike three, the nearby guard is going to spin his single bullet revolver and shoot you. If you’re lucky, the bullet isn’t in the chamber and you get to live and type again. If not, then you’re out. Successive mistakes will add more bullets to the chamber, increasing your odds of getting eliminated.

The first player to type every given sentence will win the game and the rest will be eliminated. There are no second chances, and even if you’re one letter shy away from the winner, you still lose. Only one typing master remains.

Tick tock.

The Battle Royale aspect of things only makes everything hectic. The tension is palpable as you can also see other players typing and trying their best to survive from this nightmarish game. It’s honestly one of the more unique takes on the genre I’ve ever seen, and I’ve played games like Liar’s Bar and Buckshot Roulette. But those games don’t pit you against 20 or more players. What makes Final Sentence impressive is that you get to see everyone struggling as well, and whenever you hear a gunshot in the same room, you know things are getting real.

Comparing this to first-person shooter Battle Royale games like Fortnite and Apex Legends feel like a disservice, as Final Sentence is its own brand of insanity. But it might be one of the most creative battle royales I’ve seen. Whoever came up with this idea is a bit of a genius, as no one has found out a way to make typing tests interesting apart from visiting websites like TypingMonkey and TypingTest.

Final Sentence has no release date yet, but it’s slated for a release sometime this year. For those curious, you can try out the demo that’s available to download now on Steam.
