Final Fantasy VII Remake project director Naoki Hamaguchi had a lengthy interview with Bloomberg, giving fans a tease as to what they can expect from the upcoming third and final installment.

Hamaguchi, who acted as co-director for FFVII Remake and later took on solo director duties for Rebirth, explained that Wutai will be one of the major locations in the third game and that Rocket Town will also feature prominently.

Specifically talking about Wutai, Hamaguchi stated that it will be one of the "game's main locations," adding: "Yuffie’s made a very prominent appearance, stating her case about her homeland. So if Wutai’s not featured, I think the fans are going to yell at me."

That was pretty much confirmed via prior interviews, as Wutai pivoted from an optional scenario in the original to having a much more expanded role in the final game of the Remake trilogy. The really interesting tidbit came after Hamaguchi was asked if players would be able to go to space in the next game.

Hamaguchi didn't outright confirm it, of course, but left the door open for a potential major setpiece to occur outside the planet. "I’ll keep that a secret, but considering Rocket Town [being in the game] is a yes…"

This shouldn't come as a surprise if you've played the original. That being said, potential changes to how the story flows could mean the gang doesn't make it into outer space, thereby fulfilling Cid's biggest dream.

The clock is ticking for Square Enix, and with FFVII's 30th Anniversary coming next year, hopefully, we'll get to see a glimpse into the final part of the Remake project sooner rather than later.
