After being completely bought by the Saudi organization RTS, Evo has confirmed they will be expanding the Evo series of events in 2027, with Brazil, Mexico, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and China on the roadmap for next year.
Revealed on February 23, the press release states that there are no plans to change legacy events in the United States, France, Japan, or the upcoming Singapore one, and further expansion will work alongside these established events to bring the Evo brand to more fighting game communities around the world.
"Evo will be building new, sustainable events that highlight our diverse regional communities around the globe. We are making it our mission to ensure fighting game events are available for generations of players," the statement reads.
The organizers have also promised to work alongside regional tournament organizers, dedicating significant resources to locals around the world, helping them solve challenges related to equipment, awareness, and player connectivity.
Finally, Evo announced a Fighting Game World Championship, a gauntlet to determine the greatest fighting game player in the world. This won't be a single-game competition, with players having to display their prowess across multiple, unconfirmed games. The event is set to be held in either the United States or Japan, with more information coming in the near future.
