Considering the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. is this weekend, expectations heading into this particular Direct were high, and it certainly didn't disappoint.

Here are some of the main takeaways from the showcase, starting with Mario's birthday celebrations:

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

That's right, Mario is getting a brand new film! The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is coming to theaters in April 2026. Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, and Kevin Michael Richardson will be returning to reprise their roles from The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2

Super Mario Galaxy ports are coming! Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 are making their way to Switch (and Switch 2 by extension) on October 2. Both will have physical and digital editions.

Mario Tennis Fever

A new Mario sports game? Yes please. Mario Tennis Fever launches physically and digitally on February 12, 2026. It will feature a story mode where every character turns into a baby (yes, really). There will also be a mode featuring a talking flower commentator. That's pretty neat.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder Switch 2 Edition

Super Mario Wonder is getting its very own edition for the Nintendo Switch 2, featuring the new Meetup in Bellabell Park DLC. The expansion comes with a new map and even some new modes. Releasing in Spring 2026.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book

That's enough about Mario; Yoshi is getting his own game! Yoshi and the Mysterious Book will see the beloved character team up with flowers to unlock and uncover new paths that dive deeper into Yoshi's island, revealing more about the mysterious Mr. Encyclopedia in the process. Releasing in Spring 2026.
