Koei Tecmo and Omega Force have confirmed that Dynasty Warriors: Origins will be heading to Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2 on January 22, 2026.

The news was revealed during September’s Nintendo Direct, where a trailer not only confirmed the port but also teased the release of the game’s first large-scale downloadable expansion.

Fans on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2 will all be able to dive in on the very same day.

In less than a month, the game had already shipped a million units and its free demo had been downloaded by more than two million players.

Those numbers gave Koei Tecmo one of its best fiscal years to date, proving that the long-running series still had plenty of life after a few quieter years.

The Switch 2 version comes at a time when the developers are working hard to keep the momentum going.

How Big Is the Expansion Planned to Be?

First hinted at during the August 2025 anniversary, the DLC is billed as a major expansion, though its details remain hidden, and speculation runs high about added content.

Fans can expect more news from Koei Tecmo as the release nears. Koei Tecmo’s decision to launch on Switch 2 alongside new DLC shows strong faith in both the console and the game’s future.

It opens the door to Nintendo’s latest console and refreshes the experience for longtime players. Dynasty Warriors: Origins continues to secure its place as a major Koei Tecmo franchise.
