Although the last three games in the franchise (MW3, Black Ops 6, and Black Ops 7) had the popular mode, with MW3 offering its own take, Modern Warfare 4 will veer away from it. Instead, the game will offer DMZ as its third major mode.

What is Modern Warfare 4's DMZ?

DMZ is a new iteration of the extraction mode first introduced in Modern Warfare 2 (2022). Unlike its predecessor, this is not considered a beta, but rather an evolution and a more complete version.

The mode will have its own map at launch called Hajin, which encloses parts of Russia, North Korea, and South Korea. Each region is expected to reflect the country's culture and architecture.

The world is expected to feel alive, featuring dynamic weather that won't be the same throughout the entire map.

DMZ will be available at launch and part of the premium title this time, as it won't be a free-to-play Warzone mode like its predecessor.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled to arrive on Friday, October 23, on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam and Battle.net. This will be the first Call of Duty exclusive to the current-generation consoles.
