Want to know if there is PvP in Destiny: Rising? I’ll break down exactly what type of modes you can expect if you’re looking for a competitive experience.
The Destiny franchise is known for its vast PvE offerings and very sweaty PvP. Destiny: Rising follows this trend, but in perhaps a way that veterans of the series jumping into the mobile NetEase spin-off might not entirely like.
With that said, let’s dive deep into the PvP modes in Destiny: Rising. While you’re here check out our Destiny: Rising best characters guide and full breakdown of the fishing minigame.
Is There PvP In Destiny: Rising?
Yes, Destiny: Rising includes several PvP modes. These are Shifting Gates, Iron Bar, and Shadowshaper Duels. I’ll do a small breakdown for each, as I’ll be working on individual guides later, telling you what you need to do to unlock it and what each mode offers.
Shifting Gates
Shifting Gates can be unlocked by completing the tutorial during Chapter 1-2. It’s a Gambit-like mode where six fireteams of three Guardians compete to gather the most amount of data by eliminating enemies (AI or real players).
Unlike regular Destiny 2 Gambit, defeating the Prime Anomalies isn’t the win condition. Instead, the player who takes it down will receive a Data Nucleus. Whoever has this must survive for 60 seconds to turn it into data.
There are plenty of rewards up for grabs and ranks to climb, each handing out items like Lumia Leaves and even emblems.
Iron Bar
Iron Bar is your classic PvP 6v6 Destiny experience. However, it’s treated a bit more casually than what you’d come to expect.
For starters, if you thought the name is a reference to Destiny’s Iron Banner, you’d be correct. In fact, you can only access the Iron Bar on the weekends. The main mode is Control. In it, both teams face off to control three different zones; each kill grants more points, the more zones your team controls.
You’ll find this mode in the Causal section of the activities menu. The rewards are minimal, with random level 50 rare weapon drops, Bright Dust, and 40 points of Casual Activeness available per day. The mode does include multiple maps, so replay value makes this somewhat interesting.
Shadowshaper Duels
Destiny: Rising includes a card game, Shadowshaper Duels. For all intents and purposes, this is one of the PvP modes the game offers. You can unlock it by completing the tutorial during Chapter 2-3.
You can play daily from 1:00PM to 1:00AM local time. Why is there such a bizarre daily restriction? I don’t really know. The rewards include the potential to get level 30 rare weapons, Bright Dust, Duelist Tokens, and 20 points of Casual Activeness daily.
