Want to know how to unlock fishing in Destiny: Rising? Fret not, I’m here to help. This guide will not only cover the steps you need to unlock fishing, but also some tips to help you catch the rarest of fish.

Destiny: Rising goes above and beyond being a simple cash grab, adding a ton of side activities for players to enjoy when they’re not shooting Hive, Fallen, and fellow Lightbearers. You can partake in Sparrow Racing, a unique card game, and of course, fishing.

Let’s not dilly-dally any longer and get straight into it. While you’re here, consider checking out our best characters in Destiny: Rising guide to help you spend resources wisely on worthy Lightbearers.

Once you reach the required story portion, you can easily track the activity. Talk to Pandora-7, and a quick cutscene will play out. She’ll hand you a fishing rod and some bait to get you started.

Conveniently, the fishing pond will be right next to her, so walk towards it and let’s do some fishing.

How To Fish In Destiny: Rising

Fishing in Destiny: Rising is incredibly easy. First, pick the rod and bait you want to use, then tap the fishing rod button or press the designated prompt if you’re using a controller or keyboard to send out your selected rod.

Common fish will be easier to catch. Once the prompt shines, press it to reel in the fish, simple as that. However, rarer fish will put up a fight. If you happen to run into one by using Epic bait, you’ll enter a minigame in which you need to drain the fish’s stamina. Tap or hold the reel button to “trap” the fish until its stamina is depleted to catch it.

One important thing to keep in mind is that rods have a durability stat. Common rods can be used 30 times, for example.

What Do You Do With The Fish?

One thing: sell them. You’ll receive Angler Tokens, which you can then change for items at the fishing shop with Pandora-7. Here’s how to do it:

  • Open your Ghost menu and select Inventory
  • If your fish are recently caught, they’ll show up in the Latest Acquisitions section; if not, scroll down to Consumables
  • Select the fish you want to sell and tap Sell in the lower right corner of the screen
  • You’ll be sent to another screen where you can bulk sell all the fish you currently have in your inventory

The fishing shop can be accessed from the Exchange section of the main Destiny: Rising shop; you don’t need to talk to Pandora every time you want to purchase something. You can purchase bait, fishing rods, and more cool items like weapon shaders and upgrade materials.

Fish is more than just a distraction or a way to get Angler Tokens, though. It can help you raise your weekly Activeness level, which is a form of progression for players who participate in more leisurely activities. You can earn 100 Activeness per week, with a daily cap of 20 for the fishing activity. You’ll get some decent rewards, so don’t neglect them.

Fishing Level Explained

As you become more proficient as a fisherman, you’ll earn Fishing Levels. There are a total of 75 levels, which is surprisingly deep.
