Destiny 2 is in a decaying state at the moment, with active users declining and the public not being as interested as before. It appears this has finally given Bungie a signal to start working on what would be the next main title in the franchise.
Through a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), leaker Colony Deaks revealed that Destiny 3 is in early development at the studio. No official source has acknowledged the project's existence at the time of writing, but given the leaker's track record, we can assume that it comes from authentic sources.
The leaker explained that they've known this information for a few weeks, but were waiting to say anything about it since the project is in a very early stage. However, posts from other accounts prompted the leaker to jump into the conversation and confirm the leaks.

When responding to other users, the leaker set expectations straight and mentioned we should expect this game to come in at least 5 years, if everything goes to plan, since content for Destiny 2's The Fate Saga is planned for the next two years.
The news came more than a year after the Destiny Payback project was cancelled, following the layoffs that affected Bungie. This project was originally rumored to be Destiny 3, but all the speculation fell apart once the studio veterans Luke Smith and Mark Noseworthy were fired, and the project shut down.
Once we have more leaks about the next entry in the Destiny 2 franchise, we will be sharing it here to keep you in the loop.
