As The Final Shape is getting closer and closer, Bungie isn't shying away from showing the expansion will essentially change the way Destiny 2 is played, with new weapon enhancements additions making the system much more interesting.
In the most recent This Week in Destiny published on May 16, Bungie revealed the plans they have to overhaul weapon enhancements, making it a much more rewarding process for the players who decide to upgrade their favorite weapons.
As it stands, the system only works to upgrade a single stat up to 10 times, with the weapon reaching masterwork status, granting access to a kill tracker for both PvE and PvP.
That entire masterwork system will be shafted in favor of a more in-depth weapon enhancement process, which currently only exists for Adept weapons, making it hard for the majority of the player base to engage with.

Starting with The Final Shape, even regular weapons will have access to enhanced traits without needing to be crafted. To upgrade your weapon, access the inspection screen and insert the enhancement tier mod using standard currencies (raid Adept weapons will still require Spoils of Conquest).
Upon reaching certain weapon levels, your enhanced weapon will receive an enhanced intrinsic trait related to its masterwork stat. The left-column and right-column perks will be enhanced at different levels, with the former at level 11 and the latter at 17.
This applies to every trait in each column. That means, for example, if you have a BRAVE arsenal weapon with multiple perks per column, all of them will be enhanced at the same time, with no pick-and-choose, making it a great quality-of-life addition.
We'll be covering weapon enhancement extensively when The Final Shape launches on June 4 so better stick around Siege if you want to stay up to date with it.
