Sandfall Interactive, the creators behind the groundbreaking Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, have announced that the game will receive a major free update with new bosses, environments, costumes, and more.
Revealed on October 8 via social media, Sandfall Interactive intends for this DLC to be a thank you to fans around the world who’ve made Expedition 33 a breakout success, selling over 5 million copies. An impressive feat, not only because it’s a new IP from an independent studio, but also because the game can be played via Game Pass.
The DLC will include some major updates, adding a brand-new location for your expedition to explore, more boss battles intended to give late-game players a challenge, and costumes.
When Is The Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 DLC Coming Out?
At the time of writing, that’s still a mystery. Having said that, Sandfall promised more information at a later date.
On a personal note, it wouldn’t surprise me if the developers are cooking a potential reveal at The Game Awards as part of a celebratory lap, as the game is poised to be the favorite to take home major awards despite stiff competition from the likes of Hollow Knight: Silksong or Hades 2.
So what exactly is coming with the update? Here’s everything detailed by Sandfall thus far, as they promised even more content to be revealed at a later date:
- A new, playable environment, taking the characters of Expedition 33 to a brand-new location with new enemy encounters and surprises to discover.
- Challenging, new boss battles for late-game players to overcome.
- New costumes for each member of the Expedition, giving even more customization options for players throughout their adventure.
- New text and UI game localizations into Czech, Ukrainian, Latin American Spanish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai, and Indonesian, bringing the total number of supported languages to 19.
As mentioned, the update will be completely free, as confirmed by the developers in an interview with The Washington Post.
Reminder that you can play Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store).
